Xiaomi’s next big foldable, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5, is starting to look less like a routine refresh and more like a pricing test. A new leak says the phone may arrive in the third quarter of 2026 with Xiaomi’s own Xring O3 chip, a 7.5- to 7.6-inch folding display, a 200-megapixel main camera, and a launch price around 10,000 yuan.
If that number holds, Xiaomi would be pushing the Mix Fold line further upmarket again. That is risky, but not irrational: foldables are still expensive to build, and the companies that want to compete with Samsung and Huawei keep loading them up with bigger batteries, better hinges, and camera hardware that sounds suspiciously like it was borrowed from a traditional flagship.
Xring O3 and a near-flat fold
According to the leak, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 could use Xiaomi’s in-house Xring O3 platform rather than a third-party Snapdragon chip. That would be a meaningful shift if it happens, because more brands are trying to control performance, power efficiency, and product timing by designing their own silicon instead of waiting in line.
The screen is said to measure 7.5 to 7.6 inches when unfolded, with a crease described as almost invisible. That is the kind of line every foldable maker loves to use, because nobody wants to buy a premium device and then stare at a permanent wrinkle in the middle of it.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 camera, battery, and extras
The imaging setup is tipped to include Samsung’s S5KHP5 200-megapixel sensor, while the rest of the package reportedly includes a 6000 mAh battery, wireless charging, water resistance, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Put together, that reads like Xiaomi trying to make the foldable feel less like a compromise and more like a full-fat flagship that also bends.
- Foldable display: 7.5 to 7.6 inches
- Main camera: 200 megapixels, Samsung S5KHP5
- Battery: 6000 mAh
- Other features: wireless charging, water resistance, side fingerprint scanner
A bigger price for the next foldable
The price is the loudest part of the leak. Around 10,000 yuan would put the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 well above the Mix Fold 4, which launched at 8999 yuan. That gap may not sound dramatic on paper, but in a category where buyers are already doing mental gymnastics to justify the purchase, every step upward matters.
The same leak source, Digital Chat Station, has a decent track record on Xiaomi hardware, which is why this one is worth taking seriously rather than filing under ”random internet wishes.” If the timing and pricing are accurate, Xiaomi is preparing a foldable aimed less at bargain hunters and more at buyers who want the biggest possible spec sheet, even if the bill stings a little. The real question is whether Xiaomi can make a premium foldable feel premium enough to explain that jump, or whether the market will punish it for getting ambitious.
