The OnePlus 16 camera leaks are turning into a moving target. Earlier reports painted one camera story, but a new report from Digital Chat Station says the phone may instead land with a 200MP main camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera, and a 50MP ultrawide – a very different arrangement from the version that was circulating before.
That kind of contradiction usually means a company is still shuffling parts around on prototypes, not that the final product has been locked. OnePlus is hardly alone here; high-end phones often go through several camera combinations before the spec sheet stops wobbling. The noisy part is the leak cycle itself, which tends to reward certainty long before manufacturers are done deciding anything.
Camera leaks keep conflicting
What makes the OnePlus 16 camera leaks messy is the swap in emphasis. One leak said the phone would use a 50MP main sensor and a 200MP periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom; the newer claim flips that around and gives the 200MP sensor to the main camera instead. If both rumors are even partly right, OnePlus may be testing multiple imaging stacks rather than committing early.
Other specs attached to the rumor mill
The camera talk is only part of the package. More rumors say the OnePlus 16 will use Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro SoC, a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED display from BOE, and a 185Hz refresh rate that could rise to 240Hz. The same set of leaks also points to 1mm symmetrical bezels and a 9,000 mAh battery with 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

What to watch before launch
For now, the safest read is simple: the OnePlus 16 is still in the rumor fog, and the camera setup is not fixed yet. The real question is whether OnePlus will chase pure sensor size with a 200MP main camera, or keep the more balanced split that leaves the telephoto in the spotlight. Either way, the final choice will say a lot about who OnePlus thinks it needs to beat.
