Huawei is gearing up for the worldwide release of its new Nova 15 Max smartphone, confirming plans without revealing an exact launch date. Early reports suggest the device could arrive as soon as May 7 in Thailand.
The Nova 15 Max will join Huawei’s existing Nova 15 lineup, which includes the Nova 15, Nova 15 Pro, and Nova 15 Ultra models.
Leaked images reveal a fresh design that distinguishes the Nova 15 Max from its siblings. Key specs confirmed so far include a hefty 8500mAh battery, a 50MP main camera featuring an RYYB sensor with QPD full-pixel focus, and stereo speakers. The camera sports an f/1.9 aperture for improved low-light shots. The phone will come in at least three colors: blue, white, and black.

Based on the design and specs, the Nova 15 Max appears to be a rebranded Huawei Enjoy 90 Pro Max, which launched earlier in China. That model features a 6.84-inch AMOLED display, a Kirin 8000 chipset, the same 8500mAh battery, a 50MP main camera, and an 8MP front-facing shooter.
Huawei has remained tight-lipped about further details, but a full spec sheet is expected closer to the official global unveiling.
Huawei’s move to equip the Nova 15 Max with an 8500mAh battery bucks industry trends favoring slimmer, lighter phones with smaller cells and fast charging. While Samsung and Apple focus on optimizing battery efficiency with slightly smaller capacities, Huawei seems intent on appealing to users who prioritize endurance over sleekness-especially in markets like Southeast Asia, where long battery life remains a top demand.
Watch for how Huawei positions the Nova 15 Max against similarly sized handsets from Xiaomi and Realme, as well as how the global rollout adapts the China-focused Enjoy 90 Pro Max to more diverse markets. The success of a phone this size depends largely on striking the right balance between battery life, performance, and usability-an ongoing challenge as manufacturers chase different priorities.
