A new leak has put Huawei’s Pura X Max next to an iPhone Fold dummy, and the comparison is exactly the kind of thing that fuels foldable hype cycles: one device is already real, the other is still a shape in someone’s hand. The clip suggests Apple’s first foldable will chase a familiar large cover screen formula, while Huawei is leaning into a broader, camera-heavy rear design that looks more finished than Apple’s prototype.

Huawei’s rear design looks more complete

The two devices share a horizontal camera island, but the details do the talking. The iPhone Fold mock-up shows two cameras and a flash split across the module, while the Huawei Pura X Max uses a triple-camera layout with branding under the array. That extra lens and the more symmetrical layout make Huawei’s handset feel like the more resolved product, even before you get to the usual caveat: a dummy unit is not a shipping phone.

iPhone Fold specs are still a moving target

Early reports point to a 7.7-inch display for the iPhone Fold, plus Apple’s A20 Pro chip built on TSMC’s 2-nm process, 12 GB of RAM, and a dual-48-megapixel camera setup with main and ultrawide lenses. That sounds ambitious on paper, but Apple usually keeps foldable ambitions under a tight lid until the last possible moment, and rivals have already spent several product cycles learning how hard it is to make a foldable feel polished rather than merely expensive.

What the leak suggests about the foldable race

If these proportions are anywhere near right, Huawei may have the easier first impression: more camera hardware, a larger-looking body, and a design that already exists outside the rumor mill. Apple, meanwhile, is still selling a promise, which is fine if the final device lands cleanly and without awkwardness. The interesting question now is whether the iPhone Fold arrives as a restrained debut or tries to outmuscle the competition on screen size and imaging from day one.
