The Galaxy S24 series has started receiving One UI 8.5 in South Korea, and the update is more practical than exciting: it brings the June security patch, but not the Galaxy AI features some owners were waiting for. For a flagship line sold on long software support, that is a sharp reminder that ”support” and ”feature parity” are not the same thing.
According to Tarun Vats, the Galaxy S24 Ultra build is rolling out as S928NKSS6DZF3 and includes the Android security patch dated 5 June 2026. That part is straightforward and welcome. The less glamorous part is that Samsung has left out two newer AI tools that arrived on later models: Summarize Notifications, which creates short notification summaries automatically, and Show File Summaries, which quickly analyzes file contents.
Galaxy S24 update skips two Galaxy AI features
That omission is drawing attention for good reason. Samsung has spent years selling the idea that long-term updates are a core part of the Galaxy pitch, but users tend to hear ”years of support” as ”we get the cool stuff too.” Those are not the same promise, and companies are increasingly leaning on that fine print.
- Update: One UI 8.5
- Device: Galaxy S24 Ultra, with the rollout starting in South Korea
- Build number: S928NKSS6DZF3
- Security patch date: 5 June 2026
- Missing features: Summarize Notifications and Show File Summaries
Why Samsung is drawing this line
There is a familiar playbook here. Premium AI features often arrive first on the newest hardware, then trickle outward only if the company decides the older device deserves a taste. Apple, Google, and Samsung all use that sort of staged rollout to keep fresh models feeling fresh, even when the underlying software version is shared.
For Galaxy S24 owners, the immediate upside is limited to security and stability, which is useful but hardly flashy. The open question is whether Samsung eventually adds these Galaxy AI tools to the One UI 8.5 branch for older flagships, or keeps them reserved for newer Galaxy devices and their marketing halo. Given how carefully the company parcels out AI features, a generous ending feels unlikely.
