Xiaomi’s next flagship tablet pair is starting to take shape, and the first concrete detail on the Xiaomi Pad 9 is a bigger battery for the regular model. Code spotted in HyperOS suggests the tablet will pack 9,720mAh, up from the Pad 8’s 9,200mAh, while model numbers that begin with ”2610” hint at an October debut.
That does not mean the whole lineup will follow the same script. The standard Pad 9 looks set to arrive with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, while the Pad 9 Pro is tipped for a stronger chip and, according to earlier reporting, may skip India entirely. Xiaomi has a habit of separating its tablet and phone launches when it suits the calendar, so the real question is whether this series lands on its own or arrives alongside the Xiaomi 18 phones.
Xiaomi Pad 9 battery and model numbers
The leaked identifiers are M656BA, 26103RP65G, and 26103RP65I, and the battery figure is the clearest signal so far. A 9,720mAh cell is not a massive jump on paper, but tablet buyers care about endurance more than marketing poetry. More capacity should help Xiaomi keep pace with rivals such as Samsung and OnePlus, both of which have been pushing large-screen devices with aggressive battery claims.
- Xiaomi Pad 9 battery: 9,720mAh
- Xiaomi Pad 8 battery: 9,200mAh
- Pad 9 model numbers: M656BA, 26103RP65G, 26103RP65I
- Possible launch window: October, based on the model numbering
Pad 9 Pro could follow a different path
The Pro model is still the more interesting one, because that is where Xiaomi can separate itself from the usual mid-cycle tablet refresh. If it does arrive with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, as rumored, it would push the series into a very different bracket from the standard model and sharpen the gap between the two versions. Xiaomi is also said to be planning a wider launch for the base Pad 9, which would make the lineup easier to spot in more markets even if the Pro stays selective.
October, September, or earlier in China?
The timing is still the messiest part of the story. The ”2610” clue points to October, but Xiaomi could still choose an earlier China launch, especially since the Pad 8 series appeared alongside the Xiaomi 17 phones in September 2025. With Xiaomi 18 rumors pointing to a September China launch, a bundled reveal for the Pad 9 series would fit the company’s usual habit of stacking product announcements for maximum attention. That would be classic Xiaomi: one launch event, several gadgets, and a lot less breathing room for rivals.
