Xiaomi has rounded out the Xiaomi 17 Max with black and white versions after first showing the phone in blue, and pre-orders are already live in China. The pitch is simple: a large-screen flagship with a cleaner design than the Pro models and, if the leaks hold up, the biggest battery Xiaomi has put in a phone so far.

President Lu Weibing confirmed the new finishes, giving the Max a more conventional look than Xiaomi’s flashier Pro siblings. That tracks with the rest of the design: the rear display is gone, which should free up space for a bigger battery instead of another gimmick pretending to be a feature.
Xiaomi 17 Max display and design
The Xiaomi 17 Max is expected to use a 6.9-inch flat OLED panel with 1.5K resolution and near edge-to-edge styling thanks to LIPO technology. In other words, Xiaomi is chasing the ”big slab, minimal borders” formula that has become the safe bet for premium Android phones.
That choice also sets it apart from the Pro versions in the lineup, which keep the extra screen on the back. Xiaomi seems to have decided that battery life will sell better than a second display, a judgment that is probably less glamorous and more useful.
8000 mAh battery and charging
- Battery: 8000 mAh, according to rumors
- Wired charging: 100 watts
- Wireless charging: 50 watts
If the battery rumor is accurate, the Xiaomi 17 Max would set a brand record. That would also put pressure on rivals that still treat endurance as a trade-off, even though larger batteries are becoming the easiest spec sheet win in the category.
With pre-orders now open in China, Xiaomi is moving fast enough to turn the design reveal into an actual sales push rather than a slow tease. The open question is whether buyers will care more about the huge battery and restrained design, or whether the more eye-catching Pro models will still steal the spotlight.
