Vivo has launched the Y600 Turbo in China, and the headline feature is exactly what it sounds like: a 9020 mAh battery in a phone that still claims a fairly slim 8.29 mm body and 215 g weight. At a starting price of 2299 yuan – about 2099 yuan after subsidies, or roughly $300 – this is Vivo leaning hard into endurance, bright-screen bragging rights, and ruggedness, while most rivals are still trying to make 5000 mAh feel generous.
Battery life, charging, and durability
Vivo says the battery should keep at least 80% of its capacity after 1200 charging cycles, which is the sort of line that matters more than the usual ”all-day battery” fluff. The Y600 Turbo also supports 90 W wired charging, reverse wired charging, and direct power supply, so it is clearly built for people who hate waiting and do not mind a phone that can double as a rescue pack.
Protection is unusually serious for a mainstream midrange model: IP68/IP69 is on the spec sheet, alongside Wi-Fi 6, 5G, and NFC. That puts it in the same ”we can take a bit of abuse” category as a growing group of Chinese phones that are borrowing toughness from more expensive models without the luxury pricing.
A very bright AMOLED panel
The display is a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, and a claimed 5000 nits peak brightness. Vivo also lists 4320 Hz PWM dimming, which should help reduce eye strain for users who spend too much time doomscrolling in the dark.
That kind of brightness is usually the sort of number companies save for flagship marketing decks, so seeing it here is a clue to the Y600 Turbo’s real pitch: battery first, screen second, camera somewhere further down the slide.
Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and the camera setup
Inside, the Vivo Y600 Turbo uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, paired with up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The camera hardware is practical rather than flashy: a 50 MP main sensor, a 2 MP depth sensor, and an 8 MP front camera.
- Chipset: Snapdragon 7s Gen 4
- Memory and storage: up to 12 GB RAM, 512 GB flash storage
- Display: 6.83-inch AMOLED, 1.5K, 120 Hz, 5000 nits peak brightness
- Battery: 9020 mAh, 90 W charging, reverse wired charging, direct power supply
- Protection: IP68/IP69
Running OriginOS 6, the Y600 Turbo is not trying to be a camera phone or a luxury slab. It is a battery monster with a decent chipset, a very aggressive display spec, and enough durability claims to make the average midrange phone look underprepared. The obvious question now is whether Vivo keeps this combination China-only, or decides that the rest of the world deserves a reminder that thin phones do not have to be weak phones.
