Vivo’s next foldable may be taking a very different path from the one everyone expected. A new Vivo X Fold 6 leak suggests the phone will skip Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon chatter and instead land with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500, while also packing a giant battery, dual 20-megapixel selfie cameras, and a 200-megapixel main sensor.

That makes the device a direct answer to the current foldable arms race in China, where Honor and Oppo have already pushed Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 models into the spotlight. Vivo’s reported choice would not be shocking on its own – it has used MediaTek before – but it does show how quickly chip bragging rights are becoming a moving target in premium foldables.

Vivo X Fold 6 display sizes and chipset

According to the leak, the X Fold 6 will come with an 8.01-inch inner folding display and a 6.51-inch outer screen. The inner panel is said to support 2K resolution and include a UTG layer, which should help with durability without turning the device into a pocket brick.

The biggest surprise is the chipset. Instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 that some observers had expected after the X Fold 5 used the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the new model is tipped to run on the Dimensity 9500. If accurate, Vivo is betting that performance parity is good enough – and that battery life plus camera hardware will do the real selling.

200MP cameras and dual 20MP selfies

The rear camera setup is reportedly led by a 200-megapixel primary camera, paired with two 50-megapixel sensors for ultra-wide and periscope telephoto shots. That’s a serious spec sheet for a foldable, and it suggests Vivo is trying to make the X Fold 6 look more like a camera flagship that happens to bend in half.

On the front, the leak points to a 20-megapixel camera on the cover display and another 20-megapixel camera inside. That’s a nice touch for video calls and selfies, and it also hints that Vivo expects people to actually use both screens instead of just admiring the hinge in a shop window.

7,000mAh battery and other leaked details

The battery rumor is the most eye-catching part of the leak: around 7,000mAh, with wireless charging support. If that holds up, the X Fold 6 could end up with one of the largest batteries seen on a foldable phone so far, which would be a very loud response to one of the category’s biggest compromises.

  • Inner display: 8.01 inches
  • Outer display: 6.51 inches
  • Chipset: Dimensity 9500
  • Rear cameras: 200MP main, 50MP ultra-wide, 50MP periscope telephoto
  • Front cameras: 20MP outer, 20MP inner
  • Battery: around 7,000mAh
  • Security: side-mounted fingerprint sensor
  • Water resistance: high-level, possibly IP58/IP59

The rest of the leak is more conventional: a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and high-level water resistance, possibly matching the previous generation’s IP58/IP59 class. Vivo is expected to unveil the phone around June in China, and if this leak is anywhere near right, the company is aiming for a foldable that trades chip-label prestige for endurance and camera hardware. That’s a sensible gamble. The question is whether buyers will reward a MediaTek flagship in a market still obsessed with Snapdragon badges.
