Samsung is gearing up its Good Lock ecosystem for the launch of One UI 9 by releasing an update to its Display Assistant module. This latest version ensures compatibility with the new Android 17-based interface, signaling that the stable One UI 9 release is likely just around the corner.

The update, Display Assistant 9.0.08, is now available on the Galaxy Store and weighs in at a modest 7.92 MB. According to MobilityArena, this update focuses solely on making the app function smoothly on devices running One UI 9-there are no new features, performance improvements, or bug fixes included.

Display Assistant is part of Samsung’s Good Lock suite, a collection of modules that let users fine-tune their device’s interface without flashing custom ROMs or using third-party apps. Ahead of this, Samsung has already updated several other modules for One UI 9, including ClockFace, LockStar, MultiStar, NavStar, and RegiStar. This pattern suggests Samsung is updating the entire Good Lock framework alongside the new OS, preserving advanced customization options that enthusiasts rely on.

One UI 9 release date and foldable launches

The stable release of One UI 9 is expected by late July. This timeframe aligns with Samsung’s rumored unveiling of its next-gen foldables:

  • Galaxy Z Flip 8
  • Galaxy Z Fold 8
  • Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra

The official announcement is anticipated on July 22, with sales starting August 5. Alongside these launches, Samsung is also expected to begin rolling out One UI 9 updates to recent flagship devices, including the Galaxy S25 series.

Samsung Good Lock update strategy for One UI 9

Samsung’s update rollout typically follows a familiar routine:

  • First, refining Good Lock modules for compatibility
  • Then, releasing the stable OS update on new devices
  • Finally, extending availability to existing flagship models

Monitoring the updates of the remaining Good Lock modules will be key. If all receive upgrades by the end of July, the One UI 9 launch window is unlikely to slip.
