Samsung looks set to turn a niche privacy trick into a regular Galaxy feature. According to a report from TheElec, the company is planning to bring its hardware-based Privacy Display to all four models in the Galaxy S27 family: Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27 Plus, Galaxy S27 Pro, and Galaxy S27 Ultra.
That would be a notable shift from the current setup, where the feature debuted on the Galaxy S26 Ultra and stayed exclusive to the top model. Samsung’s Privacy Display could become a standard Galaxy S27 feature if the plan moves forward, making it easier to keep private information out of view in public.
How Samsung’s Privacy Display works
This is not the usual privacy film you slap on top of a screen and hope for the best. Samsung’s approach is built into the panel itself and relies on Flex Magic Pixel OLED, a technology developed by Samsung Display. The screen is structured to limit light spread at certain viewing angles, so the owner can read it normally while people standing nearby see a dimmed or nearly unreadable image.

- Reduces visibility from side angles
- First appeared on Galaxy S26 Ultra
A privacy feature other brands are watching
The report also suggests Samsung is not the only company circling the idea. Huawei is said to be preparing hardware screen protection for one of its future foldables, while Xiaomi is still exploring whether to bring something similar to its phones. That matters because privacy is one of those small everyday annoyances that users actually notice, especially on trains, in cafes, and anywhere people keep peeking at messages they were never invited to read.
If Samsung really ships Privacy Display across the entire Galaxy S27 range, it could turn a headline-grabbing Ultra-only perk into a selling point for the whole series. The bigger question is whether the company keeps it as a meaningful differentiator or whether rivals copy the idea quickly enough to make it just another checkmark on a spec sheet.
