Samsung has already started internal testing of One UI 9.0, its next Android 17-based software layer, across a surprisingly broad mix of Galaxy phones: the Galaxy S26 and S25 series, the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7, plus the Galaxy A57, A17, and A34. That’s a classic Samsung move – get the flagship and midrange fleets into the pipeline early, then keep the interesting bits under wraps for as long as possible.

This is not a public beta yet. It’s the sort of quiet, behind-the-scenes build work that usually comes before Samsung opens the doors to testers, and it suggests the company is lining up One UI 9 for more than just its most expensive phones. In practice, that usually means wider device support gets teased early, while feature details stay locked down until Samsung is ready to show its hand.

No beta date, no feature list, just early work

For now, Samsung is saying nothing official about when One UI 9.0 will arrive, and the company hasn’t revealed any new features either. That silence is familiar: Samsung tends to hold software changes close until it has a polished story for launch, even as leaks and internal builds start floating around well before then.

The usual path is straightforward enough: internal testing first, then a limited beta for users, then a stable release once the rough edges are knocked off. The real question is how much Samsung will change this cycle for Galaxy owners who are already used to a steady drumbeat of software updates – and whether the midrange phones get the same attention as the flagships, or just the usual software crumbs.
