Samsung has already moved One UI 9.0 onto its internal test servers for the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A54, a sign that work on the Android 17-based software is underway even if ordinary users are still months away from seeing it. The first build numbers have appeared, and that usually means the company has left the planning stage and is now grinding through the boring, necessary part: testing.
The two phones are not flagship foldables or premium S-series models, which makes this a useful reminder of how Samsung spreads its software bets. By bringing midrange devices into the early pipeline, the company keeps older crowd-pleasers aligned with its newer interface ambitions instead of leaving them stranded on yesterday’s polish.
One UI 9.0 test builds for Galaxy A55 and A54
The Galaxy A55 build is listed as A556BXXUFEZF7, while the Galaxy A54 build is A546BXXUKGZF1. Those identifiers do not tell users much on their own, but they do tell Samsung watchers plenty: internal development has started, and public rollout is still some way off.
That timing fits Samsung’s usual rhythm. Test firmware tends to surface well before release, and the delay between internal builds and broad availability is often measured in months, not weeks. Rival Android brands such as Xiaomi and OnePlus have built their own update cadences around similar staged rollouts, because shipping polished software is far cheaper than cleaning up a messy launch after the fact.
What One UI 9.0 is expected to add
Samsung has not detailed the final feature set, but early expectations point to more customization, fresh system functions, and broader performance improvements. In other words, the usual promise: make the phone feel newer without forcing people to learn a whole new operating system in the process.
- Android 17 base
- Expanded interface personalization
- New system features and general improvements
July 22 could shape the One UI 9.0 rollout
The current expectation is that One UI 9.0 will begin rolling out after Samsung announces its next generation of foldable smartphones on July 22. If that holds, Galaxy A54 and A55 owners should not expect an overnight switch, but they can at least read the signal: Samsung is lining up the software now, and the update train is already leaving the station.
