Lada’s new Iskra model has surged ahead of the Geely Monjaro and secured a strong position in Russia’s auto market. According to Avtostat data for the 26th week of 2026 (June 22-28), 830 units of the Iskra were sold nationwide, placing it third among Lada’s lineup and sixth across the entire Russian market.
Within the AvtoVAZ family, the Iskra trails only two stalwarts: the Lada Granta, which sold 2,747 units that week, and the Lada Vesta with 1,470 sales. While the Iskra still lags Vesta by 640 units, it has pulled ahead of the Lada Niva Travel by 50 units, clearly establishing itself as a stronger contender.
Looking at the overall market, the Iskra sits just below the Granta, Haval Jolion (1,947 sales), and Tengyi T7 (1,665 sales). Following the Iskra on the leaderboard are Niva Travel, Geely Monjaro, Belgee X50+, and Changan Uni-S. The Iskra outsold the Geely Monjaro by 114 cars and the Belgee X50+ by 204 cars, showing its growing appeal against established import rivals.
Three Lada models-Granta, Vesta, and Iskra-feature in Russia’s top six car models, a rare feat for a newcomer like the Iskra. Typically, new models first vie for market share within their own brand before challenging foreign competitors. But the Iskra has jumped straight into the upper ranks, beating several popular crossovers that regularly dominate weekly sales charts.
If the Iskra maintains its weekly sales pace near 800 units, it could reach roughly 3,200 to 3,400 monthly sales. That volume usually secures a spot comfortably within Russia’s top 10 car models. For AvtoVAZ, this represents a chance to establish a third mass-market hit alongside the Granta and Vesta without a lengthy ramp-up period.
Russia’s auto market has seen a surge in domestic brand loyalty and competitive pricing, where AvtoVAZ’s ability to quickly launch and scale a new model like the Iskra challenges foreign-dominated segments traditionally led by brands like Geely. Observers will be watching to see whether the Iskra can sustain this momentum and influence the balance of power in Russia’s compact car and crossover segments.
