Rockstar Games has set 25 June as the day Grand Theft Auto VI preorders go live, giving PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players their first official chance to lock in the biggest game of the year that has not yet arrived. The company also unveiled the game’s official artwork and cover, while keeping one detail conspicuously under wraps: the price.

For now, the confirmed platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, which is a polite way of saying PC players are still waiting in the lobby. That fits Rockstar’s usual pattern of treating the console release as the main event first, with any wider platform plans left for later if they happen at all.

Where GTA 6 preorders will be sold

Rockstar says preorder purchases will be available through digital storefronts and selected retail partners. In other words, the company is keeping the distribution broad enough to maximize reach without yet turning the price reveal into a public sport.

That missing price tag is the real story here. Publishers have been testing higher launch prices across blockbuster releases, and GTA 6 is the one title with enough gravity to make the market pay close attention. Rockstar clearly knows that, which is probably why it is announcing the preorder date before the sticker shock.

GTA 6 release date is still set for 19 November 2026

Despite the new preorder timing, the release date has not moved: Grand Theft Auto VI is still scheduled for 19 November 2026. Rockstar had already pushed the game back from an earlier target to the end of 2026, so this latest update looks more like a marketing checkpoint than a sign of a fresh delay.

That said, preorder timing is never random. Opening sales months before launch helps Rockstar measure demand, build momentum, and keep the hype machine fed without saying a word about how much the game will cost. The longer it keeps that number hidden, the more people will speculate – which, for a game like GTA, is half the business model.
