Samsung appears ready to hike prices for its next generation of foldable smartphones, with leaked European retail estimates suggesting a steep jump, especially for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. According to WinFuture’s sources, the Ultra model with 1TB storage could become one of Samsung’s priciest mass-market phones in Europe, ringing in at €2800 – a significant increase compared to previous models.

The leaked price list reveals the following figures for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra:

  • 256GB: €2200
  • 512GB: €2400
  • 1TB: €2800

For the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8, prices are reported as:

  • 256GB: €2000
  • 512GB: €2200
  • 1TB: €2600

The Galaxy Z Flip 8, Samsung’s clamshell foldable, is expected to launch with two storage options priced at €1300 for 256GB and €1500 for 512GB.

Alongside the phones, pricing for Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch models has also leaked. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 with LTE could cost about €750. The Galaxy Watch 9 starts at €410 for the 40mm Bluetooth variant and goes up to €490 for the 44mm LTE model.

The price increase is partly due to rising DRAM and NAND memory costs, but insiders and analysts suggest this is only one factor. TrendForce reports a double-digit increase in contract prices for some memory chips through 2025 and early 2026. Additionally, retail pricing reflects more expensive OLED displays, complex hinge mechanisms, upgraded cameras, and higher import taxes in Europe.

For Samsung, this pricing shift comes at a delicate time. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 launched in Europe at around €2000, but the foldable smartphone segment’s growth is slower than the broader premium smartphone market. Counterpoint Research reports only single-digit global shipment growth for foldables in 2025. Meanwhile, Chinese competitors like Honor and Huawei continue pushing aggressively on price and slimmer foldable designs, increasing pressure on Samsung.

Samsung’s pricing and feature strategy for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series will become clearer at its Galaxy Unpacked event, likely scheduled for July 22 in London. Industry watchers will be observing if Samsung can justify these higher prices while remaining competitive in the challenging foldable smartphone market.
