Casio is turning Pokémon’s 30th anniversary into a limited G-Shock with the new GA-110PKM-7A, and it leans hard into nostalgia without pretending to be subtle. The watch borrows the GA-110’s chunky silhouette and covers it with original-game colours, character details, and collector bait that should send both watch fans and Pokémon die-hards straight to the checkout page.
This is not just a themed repaint. Casio has packed the design with references to the early games, the wider Pokémon lineup, and a presentation box that looks built for display rather than storage. That puts it in the same lane as the more successful pop-culture watch collaborations: less ”merch,” more ”object people will argue about on the internet.”
GA-110PKM-7A design details
The watch uses the GA-110 platform and draws from the red, blue, and green palette associated with Pokémon Red, Green, and Blue. Those colours show up across the hands, buttons, dial, and bezel, while the inset dial at 9 o’clock is shaped to echo a Poké Ball. A Pikachu-shaped indicator hand adds the sort of flourish that would look ridiculous anywhere else and perfectly fine here.
Casio also engraved the case back with the official Pokémon 30th anniversary logo. The translucent band carries 30 Pokémon in all, including three starter Pokémon from each generation from Kanto to Paldea, plus Pikachu and Eevee on the strap, and Mew on the loop. That sort of detail is what separates a true collector’s release from a lazy licensed product with one sticker and a prayer.
Pokémon G-Shock launch date and price
The packaging keeps the theme going with a collector’s box shaped like a Poké Ball, and the outer carton features artwork of all 30 Pokémon included in the collaboration. For buyers, the key details are simple: the G-Shock x Pokémon GA-110PKM-7A costs 33,000 JPY (~$203), launches in Japan on July 17, and lottery registrations run through Casio’s official online store from July 1 to July 6.
Casio has form here, and so do its rivals. Big watch brands from Swatch to Seiko have long used pop-culture crossovers to keep older models relevant, but the better releases usually survive because they understand the source material instead of just slapping a logo on a dial. This one looks like it did its homework.
Why this collaboration will be hard to buy
The real story is scarcity. A Pokémon anniversary G-Shock at this price point is aimed squarely at collectors, and the lottery system practically guarantees a rush from both camps: people who actually wear G-Shocks and people who keep them boxed forever. Expect demand to outrun supply, because that is how these things always go when a brand hits the nostalgia button without breaking the design.
- Model: G-Shock x Pokémon GA-110PKM-7A
- Price: 33,000 JPY (~$203)
- Japan launch: July 17
- Lottery registration: July 1 to July 6
If Casio keeps the execution this faithful, the bigger question is whether other brands will respond with equally thoughtful collaborations or just louder ones. The market has already proven it will buy nostalgia; the next test is whether it still rewards taste.
