Asus has introduced the Adol SP103, an affordable Bluetooth 6.0 speaker priced at just 239 yuan (~$35) on JD.com in China. Targeting the highly competitive budget portable audio segment, the SP103 focuses on solid battery life and convenience over brand prestige. It features 10 watts of output, Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity, true wireless stereo pairing (TWS), and promises up to 10 hours of playback on a single charge.

The Adol SP103 sports a compact design suitable for desktops or travel, measuring 180 × 180 × 49 mm and weighing 575 grams. Asus offers three pastel finishes – Iris Purple, Rose Gold Pink, and Sage Green. The front is covered by a fabric grille, while the back features a matte-finished metal panel with a built-in kickstand to prevent slipping.

Inside, full-range magnetic drivers and racetrack-shaped diaphragms deliver the audio. Asus highlights the ability to create a stereo pair with two SP103 units or connect multiple speakers into a broader system for wider sound coverage. While this spec mix is familiar for budget speakers, the inclusion of Bluetooth 6.0 stands out-most budget portable speakers still use Bluetooth 5.3 or lower.
If wireless isn’t preferred, the SP103 offers a 3.5mm AUX input for wired connections to laptops, desktops, or projectors. You can also play music directly from a microSD card without needing a phone. Physical buttons on the speaker handle power, pairing, track controls, and volume.
At around $35, the SP103 enters a saturated segment where small price differences often tip the scales. For context, JBL’s Go 4 debuted at $49.95. Competing models from Edifier and Xiaomi hover in similar price brackets within China. On the higher end, Creative recently launched its XF1 desktop speakers boasting built-in DACs, Bluetooth 6.0, and up to 72 watts RMS-an entirely different category aimed at desktop audio enthusiasts.
Asus’ Adol lineup long serves as a showcase for lifestyle-focused gadgets tailored to the Chinese market, emphasizing colorful, minimalist designs. The SP103 follows this formula with no attempt to push power limits but rather to deliver a tidy, portable speaker for bedrooms, desks, and short trips. Should Asus expand the Adol SP103 to international markets at a similar price point, it will have to contend with fierce value-driven competition where a $10 price gap can outweigh incremental tech benefits like Bluetooth version upgrades.
Given the crowded field of budget Bluetooth speakers, it will be interesting to see whether adopting Bluetooth 6.0 helps the SP103 carve a niche beyond China. With most rivals still lagging behind in wireless standards, Asus could set a trend for affordable devices to upgrade connectivity-but price sensitivity remains the main hurdle.
