Samsung has quietly started internal testing of One UI 9 on Android 17 for the Galaxy S24 FE, and that is as close to confirmation as firmware hunters ever need. A build labeled S721BXXUCEZF7 has already surfaced on Samsung’s servers, which strongly suggests the Fan Edition phone is in line for the next major software jump.

The discovery matters because Samsung’s update roadmap is beginning to look less like a rumor mill and more like a staggered rollout plan. The company has been pushing One UI releases faster in recent cycles, and leaks like this usually appear well before public beta slots open.

Galaxy S24 FE joins Samsung’s Android 17 test list

The Galaxy S24 FE is not the only device in Samsung’s orbit expected to move to Android 17 with One UI 9, but it is the clearest handset confirmation in this batch. For users, that means the more affordable FE model is being treated as part of the main software family, not as a second-tier afterthought.

That also fits Samsung’s recent habit of widening support across its premium and near-premium phones. The company has been aggressive about extending major updates, while competitors such as Google and Xiaomi keep using software support length as a selling point of their own. Nobody likes buying a phone and then watching it age out early.

Samsung phones already on the Android 17 list

Earlier, insider Tarun Vats said the stable version of Android 17 with One UI 9 would arrive for a cluster of foldables. The confirmed names in that list include Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7, Z Flip7 FE, and the experimental Galaxy Z Tri Fold, with updates also expected for Fold6, Flip6, Fold5, Flip5, and the Z Fold Special Edition.

  • Galaxy S24 FE
  • Galaxy Z Fold7
  • Galaxy Z Flip7
  • Galaxy Z Flip7 FE
  • Galaxy Z Tri Fold
  • Fold6
  • Flip6
  • Fold5
  • Flip5
  • Z Fold Special Edition

Why these Samsung software leaks get attention

Tarun Vats has a decent track record, which is why the industry keeps paying attention when his Samsung software calls land. He previously said One UI 8.0 beta would arrive earlier than expected and also gave the dates for Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S25 releases, while regularly flagging One UI 8.5 updates before they became obvious.

So the headline here is less ”maybe” and more ”brace for the next Samsung software cycle.” The build on the server does not tell us when consumers will get it, but it does tell us the company is already moving from planning to testing, which is usually where the interesting part starts.
