Acer has put a very specific kind of projector on the market: the HD1500, a portable 1080p projector built for streaming Netflix and YouTube without the bulk, price, or permanence of a full home theater. It costs €149 and will arrive in the EMEA region in Q3 2026, where it will be sold as the AOpen QP30t.

This is clearly aimed at casual viewers, not anyone shopping for cinema bragging rights. The low price and small size make sense together, and so does the 350 ANSI lumens rating, which all but says: keep the curtains closed and the lights off.

Acer HD1500 design and portability

The HD1500 is built around an integrated swivel stand that can rotate 360 degrees and tilt up to 180 degrees. That gives it the usual ”point it anywhere” flexibility, whether you want it on a wall, in a corner, or firing at the ceiling for the sort of viewing setup nobody admits to using but many do.

It weighs 1.2 kg and measures roughly 7.8 by 5.7 inches, which keeps it firmly in the carry-it-between-rooms category. Acer also says the LED lamp is rated for up to 30,000 hours, so this is more about convenience than babying the hardware.

Acer HD1500 image quality and setup features

Under the hood, the projector uses an LCD panel and an LED light source to produce a native 1920 x 1080 image. The throw ratio is 1.29, which means a 70-inch screen at two meters from the wall.

  • Native resolution: 1920 x 1080
  • Brightness: 350 ANSI lumens
  • Throw ratio: 1.29
  • Estimated lamp life: up to 30,000 hours

Acer has added auto-focus and auto keystone correction, plus an obstacle avoidance feature that uses a built-in sensor to shrink and shift the image around wall clutter. That kind of automation is where budget projectors have been improving fastest, because nobody wants to spend ten minutes nudging a box on a coffee table just to watch a show.

Acer HD1500 ports, speakers and streaming apps

The software side is the real pitch here. The HD1500 includes a built-in smart interface with Netflix and YouTube support, so it can function as a standalone streamer rather than just a display.

Connectivity is basic: one HDMI 1.4 port, one USB-A 2.0 port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. There are also two 5W speakers and Bluetooth 5.4, which at least gives buyers the option to connect headphones or a soundbar without making the setup feel old-fashioned.

Acer’s growing push into compact devices

The HD1500 also fits a wider pattern for Acer, which has recently been busy with AR smart glasses and Snapdragon-powered laptops. The company seems to be leaning hard into portable, lower-friction devices, which is sensible at a time when consumers are more likely to buy for flexibility than for a permanent living-room rig.

The open question is whether €149 and 350 ANSI lumens will be enough to tempt buyers away from cheap TVs and handheld streaming gadgets. If the price stays aggressive, the HD1500 could become the sort of projector people buy for a bedroom, a guest room, or a summer movie night – exactly the kind of use case that keeps budget projectors alive.
