Segway has officially launched the Muxi, a compact cargo electric bike, on its website priced at $1699.99. First unveiled at CES 2026 earlier this year, the Muxi arrives with two new color options: dusty sage and olive rush.

Despite its smaller size compared to typical cargo e-bikes, the Muxi packs respectable power and range. It features a 750W rear hub motor delivering up to 80 Nm of torque and can reach speeds up to 32.1 km/h (20 mph). Its 717 Wh integrated battery offers an impressive range of up to 128 kilometers (79 miles) on a single charge.

The frame sports a low-step design for easy mounting and dismounting, plus an option to add a storage module between the rider’s knees. Weighing about 33 kg (73 lbs), it’s heavier than regular city e-bikes but built to handle loads up to 189.6 kg (418 lbs).

The Muxi also sports a 9-speed Shimano Cues drivetrain paired with hydraulic disc brakes (180 mm rotors and dual-piston calipers) for solid stopping power. Safety features include traction control, hill-start assist, descent control, energy regeneration, and adaptive power distribution.

Segway’s proprietary eBike app lets riders customize settings and monitor bike status. Additional tech highlights include IPX7 water resistance, a battery management system, torque sensor, Apple Find My support, AirLock anti-theft, GPS, a 600-lumen front light, turn signals, and a rear light.

Cargo e-bikes are becoming increasingly popular worldwide as versatile urban transport options. Compared to Western competitors like Rad Power Bikes or Tern GSD, Segway’s Muxi offers competitive range and tech features at a relatively accessible price point. Its lighter, more compact frame may appeal to urban riders needing cargo capacity without bulk.

Segway’s entry with the Muxi marks another step toward mainstreaming cargo e-bikes for daily urban life. With its feature set and focus on usability, the Muxi could carve out a niche for riders balancing cargo needs with city-friendly sizing. It’s worth watching how Segway’s ecosystem and app support evolve to enhance the overall riding experience.
