Google’s upcoming Pixel Watch 5 looks set to break from tradition-not by upgrading hardware or sensors, but by hiking its price. Leak site Dealabs reports that the base 41mm Bluetooth/Wi-Fi model could launch at $400, up from last year’s $350. If accurate, this would mark the first time Pixel Watches compete directly in Apple Watch’s typical price range.
The price shift applies to multiple sizes and models. According to Dealabs, the 45mm Bluetooth/Wi-Fi Pixel Watch 5 may cost $430, while 4G LTE variants could go for $500 or $530, depending on size. For context, earlier Pixel Watch generations had cellular versions priced $50 to $100 above their base counterparts, indicating a steady trend toward premium pricing.
This pricing positions Google’s Pixel Watch 5 almost in line with Apple Watch models. The base Apple Watch Series 11 reportedly starts at around $400 from Western retailers and leaks, with cellular-equipped versions starting near $500. Samsung’s latest Galaxy Watch lineup in the U.S. is priced somewhat lower-from about $300 to $430-depending on size and connectivity.
Pixel Watch 5 new color finishes
Leaks also hint at new finishes for Pixel Watch 5. Dutch site Nieuwe Mobiel claims Google will offer Natural Silver and Warm Gold with polished surfaces, alongside Dark Anthracite and Pyrite featuring a more matte, satin-like texture. True to Google’s style, even the ”simple” colors have more evocative names than just plain gray or green.
Reasons behind Pixel Watch 5 price increase
No official word has explained the price hike yet, but several theories circulate. Rising component costs, pricier Qualcomm chips for wearables, or Google preparing to shift Pixel Watches onto its own Tensor platform-rumored for months-could all be factors.
