Casio has quietly introduced four new G-Shock 2100 watches in the US, all dressed in striking matte black with minimalistic design cues. The Luxe Black collection features nearly all-black cases, matte dials, and subtle finishes that steer away from the usual bold sportiness of the series. Two models stick to the resin GA-2100LXB basics, while the other two, GM-2100LXB, upgrade with a metal bezel and a higher price point.
The G-Shock 2100 lineup, often nicknamed the ”CasiOak” among enthusiasts due to its distinctive octagonal bezel reminiscent of Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak, usually favors sharp contrasts and a rugged look. This time, Casio dialed back the visual noise, opting for a matte black surface with subtle texture that reduces reflections and makes the watches look stealthier on the wrist.
To maintain legibility against the dark dial, the hands are trimmed thinner, and the hour markers receive a vapor deposition treatment, giving them a faint metallic sheen. Buyers can choose between silver or gold-tone accents, adding a splash of understated luxury to the otherwise monochrome palette.
G-Shock 2100 watch specs and pricing

The entry-level GA-2100LXB models retail for $145 and feature Casio’s Carbon Core Guard technology. Their cases, bezels, and bands are crafted from biopolymer resin, keeping the weight at a light 51 grams.
The GM-2100LXB variants, priced at $260, replace the resin bezel with a stainless steel one finished with black ion plating, which increases the weight to 72 grams. The strap remains the same biopolymer resin as on the GA models.
- GA-2100LXB-1A: Resin case and bezel, silver markers, 51 g, $145
- GA-2100LXB-1A9: Resin case and bezel, gold markers, 51 g, $145
- GM-2100LXB-1A: Stainless steel bezel, silver markers, 72 g, $260
- GM-2100LXB-1A9: Stainless steel bezel, gold markers, 72 g, $260
All four models share the following core features:
- Two SR726W batteries with approximately three-year battery life
- Shock-resistant G-Shock construction
- 200-meter water resistance
- World time for 31 time zones
- 24-hour stopwatch and countdown timer
- Five daily alarms
- Dual LED illumination for hands and display
Notably, these watches do not include smart functions – there is no Bluetooth connectivity, sensors, or solar charging like Tough Solar technology.
The new Luxe Black G-Shock 2100 watches are already available in the US and are priced notably higher than the regular GA-2100 models, which typically retail around $99, and just above the base metal GM-2100 versions. Casio seems to be charging a premium for the refined finish and understated style rather than for advanced features.
This release reflects Casio’s gradual expansion of the 2100 series from affordable resin watches to pricier steel and Bluetooth-equipped versions. The growing use of biopolymer resin indicates a shift toward sustainable materials as well. The Luxe Black collection occupies a middle ground where style and subtle sophistication matter as much as toughness and functionality.
With smartwatch features dominating much of the wristwatch market, Casio’s strategy is clear: for buyers who want a rugged, reliable watch with iconic G-Shock toughness but prefer a sleek, monochrome aesthetic, the Luxe Black collection offers a fresh alternative. Whether this minimalistic approach expands beyond G-Shock’s traditional fanbase remains to be seen.
