Hisense is launching a new budget gaming monitor series in China, the N3G Pro, offering 180 Hz IPS displays at prices starting from just 449 yuan ($65). Two screen sizes are available: 23.8 inches and 27 inches, with the larger model priced at 549 yuan (around $80). These specs and pricing target gamers who want high refresh rates without splurging on QHD or fancy OLED panels.

The Hisense N3G Pro series will hit stores on July 9. Hisense appears focused on the mass market segment where competitive play demands high refresh rates, but consumers are unwilling to pay extra for higher resolution, advanced panel tech, or premium stands. At nearly the cost of a basic office monitor, these 180 Hz IPS screens stand out as the series’ main selling point.

Hisense N3G Pro display and performance features

  • Screen sizes: 23.8 and 27 inches
  • Resolution: Full HD (1920 × 1080 pixels)
  • Refresh rate: 180 Hz
  • Panel type: IPS with 1500:1 contrast ratio
  • Brightness: 300 nits
  • Color coverage: 99% sRGB, 90% DCI-P3
  • Connectivity: 1 HDMI, 1 DisplayPort
  • VESA mount: 75 × 75 mm

Both models use IPS panels with a 1920 × 1080 resolution-common territory for budget gamers. The contrast ratio of 1500:1 is a notch above the typical 1000:1 on entry-level IPS monitors, contributing to deeper blacks. With 300 nits brightness, these displays suit average indoor lighting without struggle. Adaptive Sync support is included to reduce screen tearing during gaming sessions.

Hisense added MPRT (Moving Picture Response Time) mode to reduce motion blur for fast-paced action. Standard features like enhanced visibility in dark scenes and preset modes for gaming and movies round out the package. While no frills here, the lineup covers most essentials expected from an affordable gaming monitor.

The monitors tout 8-bit color depth and cover 99% of sRGB plus 90% of DCI-P3, striking a balance that makes them suitable for both gaming and casual video viewing. To ease eye strain, Hisense implemented hardware-level blue light reduction without introducing a yellow tint, along with DC Dimming to prevent flicker. Both features carry TÜV Rheinland certification.

The build is straightforward: slim bezels of about 1.6 mm on three sides make multi-monitor setups neat. The stand supports tilt from -5° to 20° but lacks height adjustment or swivel, so mounting on a VESA-compatible arm is recommended for ergonomics.

The design compromises continue on connectivity, which is limited to one HDMI and one DisplayPort, plus an external power brick. These are enough for gamers using a PC or console but fall short for users looking to turn the monitor into a desktop hub with multiple peripherals.

Hisense N3G Pro budget monitors compared internationally

Hisense competes in a crowded field of affordable gaming monitors in China, alongside brands like Xiaomi, KTC, KOORUI, and AOC. These companies offer panels with refresh rates ranging from 165 Hz to 200 Hz, but it’s rare to find 180 Hz IPS monitors priced below 500 yuan.

By comparison, high-end gaming monitors from global brands come with a much steeper price tag. Dell’s Alienware AW3426DW, for instance, features a 280 Hz QD-OLED panel and retails in Europe well above $1000. AOC also offers 2K displays with 360 Hz refresh and QD-Mini LED backlighting, boasting HDR1000 certification, clearly targeting enthusiasts.

According to market analyst TrendForce, gaming monitors are one of the most active segments within the display industry, with demand shifting toward panels exceeding 144 Hz. Hisense’s N3G Pro positions itself at the entry level of this trend, offering affordable access to higher refresh rates.

If pricing holds after the July launch, Hisense has a good shot at becoming a popular choice for budget-conscious gamers and general users looking to upgrade from basic 60 or 75 Hz monitors. Watching how rivals adjust prices and features will be key to seeing whether these monitors gain traction beyond China.
