Xiaomi has given its Mijia Handheld Fan a new green finish, and the hardware is still the real selling point: a compact body, a 5,000mAh battery, and a surprisingly granular 100-step speed slider instead of the usual handful of preset levels. The fan is now appearing on Xiaomi’s crowdfunding platform in China for 169 yuan, with a standard retail price of 249 yuan.

The new green Xiaomi Mijia Handheld Fan keeps the same formula as before, but adds a cosmetic refresh for buyers who want something a little less plain. Xiaomi is clearly leaning on the Mijia label and its smart-home ecosystem to keep small accessories moving, much like rivals that keep portable fans, humidifiers, and desk gadgets alive with cosmetic tweaks rather than a full redesign.

Mijia Handheld Fan specifications

Under the shell, the fan uses a DC variable-frequency motor rated at up to 10,000 RPM. Xiaomi says it can push wind at up to 8.5 meters per second, reach as far as five meters, and deliver a maximum airflow volume of 250 cubic meters per hour. At top speed, noise is listed at 69 dB(A).

Why the design details matter

There are a few practical touches here that are more useful than they sound. The crossbody strap makes it easier to carry, the sliding power switch should cut down on accidental pocket or bag activations, and the front LED display shows both speed level and battery percentage. In other words, Xiaomi is trying to make a small fan feel less like a novelty and more like a daily carry item.

The biggest differentiator is the stepless control. Most handheld fans give you a short ladder of modes and call it a day; Xiaomi’s 100-level slider is closer to real airflow tuning, which is the sort of thing buyers notice once they’ve used one too many cheap fans with an ”off, low, high” personality. The extra flexibility, plus power bank charging support, makes the Mijia model better suited to long commutes and hot days away from a desk.

A small accessory with familiar Xiaomi ambitions

Xiaomi has also been busy elsewhere in the Mijia line, recently unveiling a 5L smart kettle with app control and 1°C temperature tuning, while opening pre-orders for the Mijia Portable Coffee Machine. That’s the broader play: keep the ecosystem stocked with affordable gadgets that feel connected, even if the category itself is as simple as ”a fan you can hold in your hand.”

For buyers, the main question is whether the green version broadens the appeal enough to matter outside Xiaomi’s existing fans, pun intended. If the crowdfunding price holds attention, expect the handheld fan to become another one of those small Mijia products that quietly sells because it solves an ordinary problem without much fuss.
