Russian model Marianna Niveron has taken on the role of Aela the Huntress, one of the most beloved and recognizable companions from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Bow in hand, dagger ready, and sporting the signature Nordic warpaint, she perfectly captures the spirit of the fierce warrior.
Who is Aela the Huntress in Skyrim?
Aela is a Nord warrior and expert archer, part of the Companions – a legendary mercenary brotherhood based in Jorrvaskr, Whiterun’s stronghold. She belongs to the Circle, an elite inner sanctum within the Companions. Members of the Circle share a deadly secret: they are werewolves.

Aela’s lineage runs deep in Skyrim’s history. Her mother, grandmother, and all the women before them were Companions, tracing back to Hrotti Black Knifeblade – one of the original five hundred Companions, followers of the legendary Ysgramor. After her mother’s death, Aela grew up hunting in the wild with her father, training until she was old enough to take the ritual Trial to join the brotherhood. Sadly, her mother never lived to see her become a Companion.
As a character, Aela is passionate and headstrong, proud of her Companion heritage and unflinching about the harsh realities of survival. Unlike other Circle members-Farkas and Vilkas-she chooses to remain a werewolf after the Companions’ questline concludes. She refuses the cure and continues hunting Hircine’s Totems by her own choice.

Aela the Huntress’s combat skills and gameplay role in Skyrim
Aela is an expert-level archer, the only companion in Skyrim who can train archery up to level 75. Her character class is technically ”thief,” giving her stealth perks and access to light armor, which lets her move quickly and quietly through the wilds. Unlike many followers, Aela won’t steal from innocent NPCs or attack non-aggressive characters.

After completing the Companions’ main questline, Aela becomes a permanent follower and one of the few marriage candidates with a fleshed-out story arc.
The Elder Scrolls legacy and future developments in 2026
Skyrim launched in 2011 and remains relevant well into 2026, thanks largely to Bethesda’s numerous re-releases and a dedicated modding community that keeps the game fresh years after its original debut. The title’s longevity is practically meme-worthy, with constant fan projects breathing new life into the classic.

The Elder Scrolls 6 is officially in development, though Bethesda has been tight-lipped about any details. Full production kicked off only after Starfield’s release in 2023, with insider Jez Corden estimating a launch no earlier than 2028 or 2029. Todd Howard reiterated in a November 2025 GQ interview that the sequel is still ”far off.” Rumored codenames for the project include White Beach, with locations speculated to include Hammerfell and coastal High Rock under the internal subtitle Iliac, but these remain unconfirmed whispers for now.
The enduring popularity of Skyrim, fueled by fan contributions and new content, shows no sign of fading. As anticipation for the next chapter builds, the question remains how Bethesda will evolve the Companions’ legacy and characters like Aela in the upcoming Elder Scrolls installment.
