Oppo has refreshed its Reno 16 series in China with two phones that lean hard into the usual mid-to-upper-range wishlist: bright flat OLED screens, 200MP cameras, big batteries, and MediaTek silicon. The Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro look aimed at buyers who want flagship-style specs without paying flagship-style money, which is exactly the kind of pitch that keeps this segment crowded and annoying for everyone else.

The headline numbers are easy enough to remember. The standard Reno 16 gets a 6.32-inch display, a 6,700mAh battery, and the Dimensity 8550 SUPER, while the Pro stretches to a 6.78-inch panel, a 7,000mAh battery, and the Dimensity 9500s. Oppo is also keeping the camera hardware identical across both models, which is a neat way to make the decision come down to size, battery, and charging rather than a spec-sheet scavenger hunt.

Reno 16 display and battery details

The Reno 16 features a 6.32-inch flat OLED display with 2640×1216 pixels resolution, up to 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 3600nits local peak brightness. The Pro version goes bigger with a 6.78-inch OLED panel at 2772×1272 pixels, also supporting up to 120Hz. Both phones support 10-bit colors and high-frequency PWM dimming, so Oppo is not treating the screens like an afterthought.

  • Reno 16 battery: 6,700mAh, 80W wired charging
  • Reno 16 Pro battery: 7,000mAh, 80W wired charging, 50W wireless charging

That combination is still uncommon outside the very top end of the market, where brands have spent the past year turning ”all-day battery” into ”all-week anxiety reduction.”

200MP triple cameras on both phones

Oppo is using the same rear camera stack on both devices: a 200-megapixel Samsung HP5 main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 periscope telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom and OIS. Up front, each phone gets a 50-megapixel selfie camera with autofocus, which should please the social-media crowd and the people who spend too much time on video calls.

  • Primary camera: 200MP Samsung HP5
  • Ultra-wide camera: 50MP
  • Telephoto camera: 50MP Samsung JN5, 3.5x optical zoom, OIS
  • Selfie camera: 50MP with autofocus

Reno 16 price and availability in China

Color options differ slightly: the Reno 16 comes in Moonlit Night Black, Galaxy Purple, and Heart-Fluttering Stars, while the Pro is sold in Moonlit Night Black, Dreamy Blue, and Heart-Fluttering Stars. Both phones are on sale in China now, and Oppo is expected to take the Reno 16 series global in June or July. If that happens, the real test will be whether Oppo can keep the camera and battery formula intact once regional pricing and software support enter the chat.
