AvtoVAZ has upgraded its flagship sedan, the Lada Aura, adding automatic climate control and the Lada Connect Start telematics system across all trim levels. Originally pitched as a more comfortable and business-friendly alternative to the Vesta, these updates fill a long-standing equipment gap rather than just offer minor tweaks.

The climate control system maintains a set cabin temperature automatically, eliminating the need for constant manual adjustments. This makes particular sense for the Aura’s extended wheelbase, designed with rear passengers in mind as much as the driver. Spaciousness and comfort have long been key selling points for the model.

The Lada Connect Start telematics, accessible via the ”Mir Lada” app, offers features that have become standard in many cars worldwide. Owners can track the vehicle’s location, check fuel levels, engine temperature, battery charge, and other vital stats remotely. Chinese automakers like Chery and Geely have long included such smartphone-connected functions, and AvtoVAZ is now catching up on these tech conveniences in its premium lineup.

Lada Aura trim levels with new climate control and telematics features

The base ”Premier” trim still seats four airbags, stability control, cruise control, heated seats and steering wheel, keyless entry, remote engine start, and the Lada EnjoY multimedia system with a 7-inch display. The ”Status” trim steps up with a two-tone dashboard, genuine leather interior, and a larger 10-inch Lada EnjoY touchscreen.

Competitive pressures in Russia’s business sedan segment

The Aura update follows recent revisions to the Vesta family, the platform on which the sedan is based. In Russia’s competitive business car segment, the Aura faces pressure from growing Chinese brands and the rising popularity of more affordable crossovers. According to analytics firm Avtostat, Chinese brands accounted for over 50% of new passenger car sales in Russia in 2025 – pushing domestic makers like AvtoVAZ to not only price competitively but also enhance feature sets.

Pricing outlook for the refreshed Lada Aura sedan

AvtoVAZ hasn’t revealed pricing for the refreshed Aura yet. In this segment, price tags speak louder than any press release: adding climate control and telematics could justify a price bump, especially as buyers now compare not just badges but screens, apps, and convenience features straight out of the box.

Future prospects for Lada Aura in a tech-savvy market

Looking ahead, it will be interesting to see how AvtoVAZ balances upgrading features with maintaining affordability in a market increasingly dominated by tech-savvier competitors. The Aura’s success may hinge on its ability to offer desirable comfort and connectivity without pricing itself out of the fiercely contested Russian business sedan category.
