Charlize Theron and ”The Summit” director Baltasar Kormákur are moving quickly from one Netflix thriller success to another studio project. The pair are set to reunite on Universal Pictures’ ”Six Clean Kills,” a new thriller adaptation that could again put Theron in the lead role, with both also attached as producers.
That fast follow-up makes sense. ”The Summit” opened on Netflix on 24 April 2026 and shot straight to the top of the streamer’s English-language film chart, where it stayed for two weeks. In its second week, the thriller reached 40.8 million viewers, which is exactly the kind of number that convinces studios to stop circling and start signing.
What Universal is getting with ”Six Clean Kills”
”Six Clean Kills” is based on an unpublished novel by Stan Parish, who is also adapting the book himself. Plot details are still being kept under wraps, which is usually Hollywood code for ”we are not ready to explain this yet.” Theron is expected to produce through Secret Menu, her company operating under a deal with Universal, alongside A.J. Dix and Beth Kono, while Kormákur comes in through Blueeyes Productions.
