Casio has given the MQ-24 a dressier outfit without changing the watch’s bargain-bin personality. The new Casio MQ-24D and MQ-24G models keep the familiar three-hand analog layout, but replace the resin strap with stainless steel and add sunray dials in black, blue, green, and gold-accented finishes.
That’s a smart move in the budget quartz watch market, where inexpensive pieces are increasingly sold on styling rather than specs. Casio knows the MQ-24 formula already works: keep it thin, keep it light, keep it cheap, and let the colorway do the selling.
Four Casio MQ-24 models, two finishes
The lineup is split into the silver-tone MQ-24DA series and the gold-tone MQ-24GA-1A.
The models are:
- MQ-24DA-1A: black dial
- MQ-24DA-2A: deep navy blue dial
- MQ-24DA-3A: emerald green dial
- MQ-24GA-1A: black dial with a gold ion-plated band and case
All four watches use metallic sunray dials and raised metallic indexes, which is a tidy way to make a very basic watch look more expensive than it is. Casio is not pretending these are feature-packed tools; this is pure legibility with a bit of shine.
Casio MQ-24D size, weight, and battery life
Under the new bracelet, the hardware stays familiar. The watches measure 38.8 by 34.9 mm and are just 7.8 mm thick, while the resin case and bezel keep weight down to 45 grams even with the metal band attached. The self-adjustable clasp fits wrists from 150 to 205 mm.
- Size: 38.8 by 34.9 mm
- Thickness: 7.8 mm
- Weight: 45 grams
- Battery: SR626SW, about three years
- Water resistance: suitable for daily wear, not swimming or diving
Casio also sticks with resin glass, which is exactly the kind of cost-cutting choice that keeps the price low and the story uncomplicated. The result is a watch that looks more formal than the standard MQ-24, but still behaves like a utilitarian quartz piece.
Casio MQ-24D pricing in the US
- MQ-24DA models: $54.95
- MQ-24GA-1A: $64.95
All four are available now in the US, which puts them squarely against the endless stream of cheap dress watches that sell the idea of polish without much substance.
Casio has been busy in the US lately, too, with new MTP-B185 watches and two G-Lide GBX-H5600 models already joining the lineup. That suggests the company is leaning harder into variety at the low and mid tiers, where small updates and fresh finishes can move a lot of units without forcing a redesign from scratch.
Casio MQ-24 budget dress watch play
The big question is whether buyers want the MQ-24 for its minimalism or for its upgrade-by-appearance trick. Casio seems happy to sell both at once, and if these colors land, expect more of the same: familiar watches, new skins, and just enough metal to make the price feel like a small victory.
