Ubisoft’s remake of ”Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag” has gone gold, a strong sign that the pirate adventure is on track for its July 9 launch. That puts the game in the rare, reassuring category for modern releases: the build is done, the discs and downloads are effectively locked, and the delay rumors can go back to sea.

The new version, called ”Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced,” is being built from scratch on the latest Anvil engine. Ubisoft is promising the kind of upgrade list that sells a remake in 2026: ray tracing, refreshed water simulation, more dynamic combat, blood, improved stealth and parkour, plus new story scenes and Steam achievements at launch.

Black Flag Resynced release date, price, and platforms

Ubisoft says the game will launch on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Ubisoft Connect, as well as on PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. The asking price is $60, and Russian pre-orders are not available. A Russian text translation is also listed for release, which should help broaden the audience beyond the usual nostalgia crowd.

Why Ubisoft is leaning on a remake

Remakes of hit games have become one of the safer bets in an industry that has grown tired of expensive surprises. If the original ”Black Flag” was about freedom on the high seas, this version is about controlling risk on shore: a known brand, a modern engine, and a feature list designed to look expensive without asking players to learn a new universe from scratch.

The timing also fits a familiar pattern. Publishers increasingly use remakes to keep older franchises visible while new entries take longer to develop, and pirate fantasy still has one obvious advantage over many open-world settings: ships, storms, and spectacle are easy to sell in a trailer. If Ubisoft lands the combat and traversal, this one should sail; if it doesn’t, even gold status won’t save the conversation for long.
