Samsung has started rolling out a June security update for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra, and the first stop is South Korea. The 445 MB package arrives as build S918NKSS8FZF1 and patches 45 vulnerabilities, which is the sort of housekeeping flagship owners should want even if it does not add any flashy new features.

The Galaxy S23 security update should reach other regions soon. That matters because Samsung’s security cadence is now doing more of the heavy lifting for the Galaxy S23 family: the phone line already came in with One UI 5.1 based on Android 13, and its major Android upgrade promise has effectively run its course after One UI 8.5 based on Android 16 QPR2.

45 vulnerabilities patched in a 445 MB package

This is a straightforward security release, not a feature drop. Samsung says the new firmware fixes 45 issues found in earlier software versions and raises the overall protection level of the phones.

  • Device family: Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, Galaxy S23 Ultra
  • Update size: 445 MB
  • Build number: S918NKSS8FZF1
  • Security fixes: 45 vulnerabilities

Galaxy S23 software support is entering the maintenance phase

The more interesting part is what is not in this update: another big Android version jump. Samsung had promised four major Android upgrades for the Galaxy S23 series, and that commitment appears to be essentially finished. In practical terms, that leaves security patches as the main reason for owners to keep paying attention to new firmware.

That is normal for a three-generation-old flagship cycle, and Samsung is still doing better than many Android rivals on post-launch support. The next question is simply how quickly this June patch leaves Korea and lands on the rest of the Galaxy S23 line.
