Samsung’s next high-end smartwatch has leaked in near-official form, and the surprise is how little it appears to have changed. Evan Blass has shared polished renders of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 ahead of an expected July unveiling, showing a watch that keeps the squared-off, rounded design of the first Galaxy Watch Ultra while doubling down on the same rugged, premium pitch.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 leak also fills in a decent chunk of the spec sheet. The watch is said to come in at least black and green, carry a 47 mm marking, and feature sapphire glass, LTE, GPS, and water resistance rated to 10 atm. That puts it squarely in the ”expensive outdoor gadget” category Samsung seems happy to own, especially as Apple keeps splitting its smartwatch line between mainstream and ultra-tough options.

Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 design and colours

Visually, Samsung looks to be sticking with the formula it already sold once: a chunky case, a familiar three-button layout on the right side, and a large orange-accented action button in the middle. The only real unresolved design question is the rotating bezel, which Samsung fans still treat like a sacred relic rather than a control method. There’s also speculation that if the company skips a new Watch Classic model this time, the bezel could end up on the Ultra instead.

  • Case size: 47 mm
  • Colours shown: black and green
  • Protection: sapphire glass
  • Connectivity: LTE and GPS
  • Water resistance: up to 10 atm

Snapdragon Wear Elite and a bigger battery

Under the hood, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is expected to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite, which should keep it in the same premium performance bracket as Samsung’s best current wearables. Another unofficial detail points to a 784 mAh battery, a number that matters more on a watch like this than on almost any other category of gadget; with LTE on board and a rugged build to power, endurance is the real battleground.

Samsung also appears to be sticking with a mobile-connected-only strategy for its top-tier rugged watch, with no Wi-Fi-only version mentioned so far. That is a neat way to keep the Ultra line distinct, though it also means buyers are paying for everything, whether they need it or not.

July launch at Galaxy Unpacked

The official reveal is expected at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked in July, where the company will likely use the Ultra 2 to reinforce its premium smartwatch push before rivals get too comfortable. If the leaked renders are accurate, Samsung is betting that refinement, durability, and a few headline specs are enough to sell a second-generation model that looks almost intentionally unbothered by the idea of reinvention.
