Liquid Glass transparency slider in iOS 27
Last year’s iOS 26 overhaul introduced Apple’s Liquid Glass design language, featuring glass-like UI elements and fresh animations across the system. While visually striking, it sparked complaints over readability issues. Apple began refining the design during the beta phase ahead of its September 2025 launch.

The headline change in iOS 27 is a new slider within system settings that lets users control the transparency level of the Liquid Glass effect throughout the interface – including tab bars. This tweak aims to balance aesthetics with usability by putting display adjustments in users’ hands.
Apple Intelligence and Siri improvements in iOS 27

Apple teased further enhancements to its Apple Intelligence features and Siri assistant during the keynote but kept details vague. iOS 27 represents another push to expand Apple Intelligence, originally introduced at WWDC 2024. In March 2025, Apple acknowledged that the revamped Siri was delayed due to ”longer than expected” development time. The company later settled a class-action lawsuit centered on unfulfilled Siri feature promises.
Apple’s iterative approach to iOS 27 emphasizes user customization and incremental AI improvements rather than sweeping changes. As competitors ramp up their own AI-powered assistants and dynamic interfaces, whether Apple’s tweaks will keep it competitive in user experience remains a key question.
