Edifier has refreshed its Hecate G3 Max gaming headset with a new Base Edition that adds a multifunctional charging dock, and it is already up for pre-order in China. The introductory price is 374 yuan, about $52, with official sales starting on June 5 at 8 PM local time. The Hecate G3 Max Base Edition keeps the same headset and adds a desktop-friendly dock, plus RGB lighting for a more polished look.
The new version arrives after the standard Hecate G3 Max launched earlier this year. That timing suggests Edifier is doing what a lot of audio brands now prefer: sell the core product first, then chase the accessory upsell once the hardware has already landed. It is a familiar play, but the RGB lighting gives it just enough gaming flair to avoid looking like a plain repackage.
RGB 3-in-1 dock adds the headline feature
The main upgrade is Edifier’s RGB 3-in-1 All-in-One Base. It combines magnetic charging, a 2.4GHz wireless receiver, and a headset stand, so the headset can be dropped onto the dock instead of being left to dangle from a cable like a forgotten office accessory. The base also includes 360-degree RGB ambient lighting, which should play well with the kind of desks that already have too many glowing things on them.

Hecate G3 Max specs stay largely intact
Under the hood, the Base Edition keeps the same 53mm driver with a PEN diaphragm and Edifier’s three-volume independent low-frequency cavity design. The company says that setup delivers deeper bass without sacrificing clarity, and the headset still supports THX Spatial Audio plus 7.1-channel virtual surround sound. It also carries Hi-Res Audio certification and a 20 Hz to 40 kHz frequency response.
Edifier says the tuning was developed with professional esports teams, which is the kind of claim every gaming audio maker loves to make because footsteps and gunfire are the easiest way to sound serious. The headset also includes a 360-degree noise-canceling microphone for voice chat, plus a 2000mAh battery rated for up to 227 hours under certain conditions, with charging while in use supported.
Connectivity across PC, console, and mobile
Edifier is covering most bases on connectivity: 2.4GHz wireless via USB-C and USB-A adapters, Bluetooth 6.0, and wired USB through a USB sound card. Compatibility stretches across PCs, laptops, smartphones, tablets, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch systems, which makes the headset less of a niche gaming toy and more of a catch-all option for mixed-device users.
The real question is whether the dock becomes the reason to buy the Base Edition, or just the part that makes the bundle easier to justify. Plenty of headset makers lean on RGB and convenience features to separate near-identical models, and Edifier is clearly betting that a neat charging stand is enough to tip buyers at this price. That should work best for desktop gamers who want their headset parked, powered, and mildly dramatic.
