LG has expanded its gaming monitor lineup with the new 45-inch UltraGear 45GX950B, an upgrade over the previous OLED 45GX950A model. It targets serious gamers with a higher refresh rate and enhanced display capabilities.
The UltraGear 45GX950B features a 5120 × 2160 OLED panel, offering a 5K2K resolution that delivers sharp and vibrant visuals. Its native refresh rate hits 165 Hz, while a special Dual Mode doubles that to 330 Hz by cutting the resolution in half vertically to 5120 × 1080 pixels, helping competitive gamers push for smoother gameplay.
Brightness peaks at 275 nits in SDR mode but can surge to 1300 nits in small HDR highlights, ensuring striking contrast and punchy visuals. Additionally, a built-in processor can scale any input signal to 5K2K, so gamers get consistent image quality regardless of their source device.

Compared to its predecessor, the 45GX950B stays largely the same in design and features, though LG has dialed down the built-in speaker output from 10 W to 7 W. This adjustment likely focuses more on delivering premium visuals than audio performance.
In Japan, the UltraGear 45GX950B carries a suggested retail price of 329,800 yen (about $2,099), but it’s currently available for a discounted 259,800 yen (around $1,653). Pre-orders kick off on June 11, suggesting availability outside Japan won’t happen before summer 2026.
LG’s push with the 45GX950B pits it against other high-end gaming monitors like the Alienware AW3423DW and Samsung’s Odyssey Neo G8, which also feature OLED or advanced display technologies but vary in resolution and refresh rates. LG’s emphasis on a 5K2K OLED panel with ultra-high refresh modes targets enthusiasts who want both image fidelity and competitive speed.
As OLED continues to gain traction in the gaming monitor segment, LG’s UltraGear 45GX950B underlines the trend toward combining top-tier visual quality with fast response times. Future updates may push the envelope further on brightness and speaker quality, but for now, LG is balancing extreme visuals with the demands of pro-level gaming.
