Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 leak images suggest the company is sticking to a familiar script, but one new model could change the shape of the line. Images shared by longtime leaker Sonny Dickson show mockups of the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Flip8, and a fresh Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide, with a summer release expected according to multiple insiders.
The standard Fold8 looks like an evolution, not a rethink. The leaked mockups suggest Samsung is keeping the same overall silhouette as the current Fold7, while making the device slightly thicker and shrinking the cutout for the front camera on the outer display. The Flip8, meanwhile, appears to be taking the safest possible route: same clamshell idea, same basic formula, less drama.
Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide leans into a new shape
The real attention magnet is the Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide. Compared with the regular Fold8, it looks shorter and wider, which is exactly the kind of design tweak that can make a foldable feel either brilliantly practical or oddly niche, depending on how Samsung executes it. Foldable makers have spent years trying to balance tablet-like ambition with one-handed usability; a wider format could be Samsung’s latest attempt to move that conversation forward.
According to one leak, the Wide model measures 123.9 × 164.4 × 4.3 mm when open and 123.9 × 82.2 × 9.8 mm when closed. The same report says the cover display uses a 4.7:3 aspect ratio, while the inner screen comes in at 4:3.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and Flip8 keep evolving by inches
If these mockups are close to reality, Samsung is not chasing a flashy redesign for the Fold8 and Flip8. That makes sense: the company has spent years refining hinge mechanics, durability, and weight, while rivals such as Honor, Google, and Huawei keep nudging the category in different directions. The pressure now is less about inventing a foldable and more about making people actually want to live with one.
Dickson’s track record gives the leak some extra weight. He previously published accurate images of the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, Apple HomePod, iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 17 before launch, which means Samsung’s next move may already be visible in mockup form – even if the final hardware still keeps a surprise or two for summer.
