Xiaomi has turned the Redmi Pad 2 Pro into a student-focused package in China, bundling a rugged case, a stylus, and a handful of education tools on top of the same tablet hardware. The result is the Redmi Pad 2 Pro Learning Edition, which looks a lot like a regular midrange tablet until you get to the homework-grading and lesson-assist features.
That strategy is not exactly subtle. Xiaomi is leaning into a category that Apple and Samsung mostly leave to schools, parents, and accessory makers: a device that tries to be both a screen and a study partner. It is also a neat way to justify a much higher price without changing the core specs one bit.

The tablet keeps the same 12.1-inch display with 2.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi says the panel uses matte glass to cut glare, which should make a difference during long reading sessions and bright classroom lighting. Under the hood, it runs on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset and comes only in an 8GB RAM plus 128GB storage configuration.

AI homework grading and study tools
The big upgrade is software, not silicon. Xiaomi says the Learning Edition can act like an AI teacher in real time, answering questions during lessons, while another feature can check homework with a single tap, flag mistakes, and point students toward weak spots. That is a pretty direct challenge to the static, note-taking tablet formula most brands still sell.
It also ships with a rugged case and stylus in the box. The case includes a latch, a stylus holder, and a fold-out cover that doubles as a stand, which is the kind of sensible bundle that should have been standard ages ago. Xiaomi is pairing that with a three-year subscription to the Xiaomi Education Center, giving access to textbooks, more than 150,000 lessons, and structured study plans.
Redmi Pad 2 Pro Learning Edition price
The Learning Edition costs CNY 2699, compared with CNY 1799 for the standard Redmi Pad 2 Pro with the same memory setup. That is a steep premium for accessories and software, but it is not unusual for Xiaomi to slice the market this way: lock in a base device, then charge for a clearly defined use case. Whether parents and students see value in the AI extras will decide if this is a smart education bundle or just a pricier tablet with a homework app dressed up as a feature.
There is no word yet on wider availability, though Xiaomi has launched similar kids-focused tablets outside China before. If it does the same again, the real test will be whether the education features translate beyond marketing copy and into something teachers or families actually keep using after the novelty wears off.
