Yandex has revamped its lineup of smart home sensors, slashing the recommended retail price from 2,490 to 1,490 rubles per device while packing in new features. These budget-friendly gadgets are now easier to use and boast improved build quality thanks to streamlined manufacturing and user feedback integration.

The refreshed sensor family includes four models: temperature and humidity, water leak, door and window opening, and motion and light detection. All support the Zigbee protocol and run on batteries, ensuring functionality even without an internet connection.

Yandex smart home sensors key features

The temperature and humidity sensor now sports a display and a redesigned stand, allowing it to sit on surfaces instead of just wall-mounting. Its integration with climate control automation lets it trigger actions-like switching on an air conditioner at 25 °C or activating a humidifier when humidity drops below 40%.

The water leak sensor comes in an updated casing and reacts instantly to water presence under sinks, washing machines, or radiators, sending immediate alerts to the user’s smartphone.

The door and window sensor has been reinforced to withstand harsh door slams and is suited for security and home automation uses-for instance, triggering alarms or turning on closet lights when doors open.

The motion and light sensor features a magnetic base, enabling attachment to metal surfaces without adhesive. It separately transmits data on movement and lighting levels, allowing fine-tuned automations like turning on lights only when the room is dark and movement is detected. Users can adjust sensitivity to avoid false alarms or catch distant activity reliably.

All sensors share a clean white design, run on a single battery, and integrate smoothly with Yandex’s voice assistant, Alice. You can buy them directly from Yandex’s official store or through third-party retailers.

Compared to previous models, these upgraded sensors offer expanded functionality at a notably lower cost, making the entry point into smart home setups more affordable and attractive to consumers.

The updated Yandex smart home sensors could change the smart home device segment in Russia and nearby countries, where similar basic gadgets tend to be pricier and less capable. The real question is how quickly Yandex’s ecosystem and compatible third-party gear will grow around these new sensors to deliver comprehensive home automation solutions.
