Xiaomi Watch S5 design and sensors

Battery life on the Watch S5 improves by six days over the Watch S4, thanks to an 815 mAh battery that supports up to 21 days of use. While Xiaomi has yet to confirm a global release date, it currently sells the Watch S3 and both Watch S4 variants outside China, suggesting the Watch S5 may follow this global rollout in time.

Key features of the Xiaomi Watch S5 include:

  • Up to 21 days battery life on a single charge
  • Heart rate sensor with 98.4% accuracy
  • Dual-band GNSS chip for 33% improved GPS precision
  • Sleep tracking with Sleep Algorithm 2.0 for 11% better accuracy
  • eSIM connectivity variant available
  • Vehicle integration with SU7 and YU7 models at launch

Xiaomi’s strong push in wearables continues as it competes with Apple, Samsung, and other manufacturers by focusing on long battery life and accurate health metrics. The addition of vehicle integration at launch sets the Watch S5 apart, targeting users who want their smartwatch to extend its utility beyond fitness and notifications.

The integration of smart car features with the Watch S5 could influence the evolution of wearable tech as a hub for smart car interactions. It remains to be seen whether other smartwatch brands will adopt similar connectivity or pursue different use cases. The Xiaomi Watch S5 may provide early insights into this emerging trend.
