Xiaomi’s latest home-cleaning gadget is trying to do the job of a vacuum, mop, steam cleaner, and self-sanitizing washer in one go. The Xiaomi Mijia Floor Washer 5 Pro goes on sale April 19 at a discounted launch price of 2,149 yuan ($314), undercutting its listed JD.com price of 2,499 yuan ($366) without pretending this is a budget buy.

The pitch is simple: more heat, more suction, less mess left behind. Xiaomi says the machine pushes out 160°C steam, 2,850 mg of steam per minute, and uses a 300W boiler, while a 26,000Pa suction system handles dry debris, wet spills, dust, hair, and larger particles. That puts it squarely in the ”serious chore killer” category, where Xiaomi tends to compete with premium wet-dry cleaners rather than ordinary stick vacs.

Steam cleaning, suction and anti-tangle hardware

Inside, there’s a roller brush spinning at 400 RPM, plus shark-tooth comb teeth and a four-layer anti-tangle system meant to keep long hair from turning the brush into a small disaster. Homes with pets or heavy shedding may care more about that than the headline suction figure, which is usually where these products either win or become annoying to live with.

Xiaomi also leans hard into hygiene. The scrubber includes a 100°C boiling-water self-cleaning system for the roller and internal components, plus high-temperature drying to help prevent mold and lingering smells. A five-layer water control setup is meant to leave less residue on the floor, which sounds boring until you remember that a damp floor is just a future slip hazard with branding.

Battery, tanks and cleaning modes

The rest is practical rather than flashy. Xiaomi says the 4,000mAh battery lasts up to 40 minutes, enough to cover up to 340 square meters, and the scrubber carries separate 1,000 ml clean-water and 700 ml dirty-water tanks. An LED display and voice prompts handle the basics, while standard, steam, water absorption and power modes give it a wider range than the average ”one button, hope for the best” cleaner.

  • Launch price: 2,149 yuan ($314)
  • Listed price: 2,499 yuan ($366)
  • Steam temperature: 160°C
  • Suction: 26,000Pa
  • Battery: 4,000mAh
  • Runtime: up to 40 minutes
  • Coverage: up to 340 square meters

The big question is whether Xiaomi’s usual formula – aggressive specs, broad features, and a price that looks sharp next to imported rivals – can make a heavy floor washer feel less like an appliance and more like an easy yes. If it does, the Mijia 5 Pro should sell well; if not, it will join the long line of ambitious cleaners that looked smarter on paper than they felt after the first refill.
