The Assassin’s Creed franchise continues to evolve, and Ubisoft just dropped a major update that’s bound to catch the attention of fans worldwide. The studio outlined improvements for classic titles, teased a potential remake, and shared insights into new projects in the pipeline-and all of this shapes what comes next for one of gaming’s most iconic series.
For Russian gamers, Assassin’s Creed has been a cultural phenomenon for years, often tied to local gaming communities and fan events. Ubisoft’s commitment to revitalizing older titles while pushing fresh concepts means that players outside Russia can also appreciate the rich legacy and upcoming content this franchise is delivering.
The quickest changes are hitting older games. Assassin’s Creed Unity will soon get a long-awaited performance boost, and rumors are swirling about a possible remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
Ubisoft has officially confirmed a free patch that will enable 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S for Assassin’s Creed Unity, scheduled for release on March 5, 2026. This update finally removes the 30 FPS cap on PS5, while Xbox Series X|S players have already been enjoying 60 FPS thanks to the FPS Boost feature.
The studio acknowledged that fans have been asking for better performance in Unity for years. Once the patch goes live, they anticipate renewed interest in the game from both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
Xbox players will also have a chance to dive into the series during the Xbox Free Play Days event running from April 2 to April 6, when several Assassin’s Creed titles will be available to try for free for a limited time.
Beyond Unity’s update, Ubisoft addressed the buzz around revitalizing classic Assassin’s Creed entries. The most talked-about project is Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced, widely suspected to be a remake of the much-loved 2013 pirate adventure.
Though details remain sparse, the expectation is that this project will retell Edward Kenway’s story with cutting-edge graphics and refined gameplay mechanics. Ubisoft recently shared a new official image on its blog, effectively confirming the project’s existence without a formal announcement. Previous leaks suggested the Black Flag remake might drop by March 31, 2026, but Ubisoft hasn’t pinned down an exact release date yet.

As for current projects, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which launched last year, has already received several updates based on player feedback, including improvements to its parkour system.
On March 20, Ubisoft will host a Twitch stream celebrating the first anniversary of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The developers also announced that the game is entering its final support phase, with only minor updates planned going forward.
Looking further ahead, several new Assassin’s Creed projects remain in development. Among them are Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, expected to be a darker, story-driven entry, and Assassin’s Creed Codename Invictus, which aims to focus on PvP multiplayer. Work also continues on Assassin’s Creed Jade and a Netflix series inspired by the franchise.
For Ubisoft, this blend of revisiting beloved past entries and pushing into fresh territory shows a savvy understanding of their audience’s desires. The Unity performance patch guarantees a smoother, more modern experience for classic fans, while the potential Black Flag remake taps into nostalgic yet untapped potential. New projects like Codename Hexe and Invictus signal Ubisoft’s intent to diversify gameplay styles within the franchise, even branching into streaming with the Netflix adaptation. For Assassin’s Creed fans worldwide, these developments mean the series isn’t just surviving-it’s gearing up for a significant renaissance.
