Samsung has expanded its Odyssey gaming monitor lineup with the introduction of a more budget-friendly model, the Odyssey OLED G6, featuring a third-generation QD-OLED panel. These quantum dot OLED displays are gaining traction in reasonably priced monitors like the MSI MAG 272QP QD-OLED X24 at around $500 and ViewSonic’s VX2738-2K-OLED priced near $450.
The new Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 gaming monitor starts at $599.99, making it slightly pricier than those competitors but cheaper than its predecessor-the Odyssey OLED G6 G61SD-which launched earlier in 2024 at $799.99. Available in the U.S. as the Odyssey OLED G6 G61SH, it can be purchased directly from Samsung or on Amazon, where prices run about $50 higher.
Belonging to Odyssey’s 2026 gaming lineup, the G61SH sports a 27-inch screen with a QHD resolution of 2560 × 1440 and a rapid 240Hz refresh rate. Its response time clocks in at an impressive 0.03 milliseconds, and it supports AMD FreeSync Premium variable refresh technology for smoother gameplay.

The display supports HDR10 and HDR10+ Gaming but peaks at a modest 400 nits brightness. This means the vivid highlights common on pricier OLED gaming monitors, which can exceed 1,000 nits, are less pronounced here.
Like other contemporary Samsung OLED monitors, it covers 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and holds Pantone Validated and Pantone SkinTone Validated certifications, promising accurate colors straight out of the box. Additional features include an anti-reflective coating, Samsung’s proprietary OLED protection technologies, and a fully adjustable ergonomic stand.
However, the G61SH trims some connectivity options compared to the G61SD version. It offers one HDMI 2.1 port, one DisplayPort 1.4, and a headphone jack but lacks USB-C and any USB hub functionality. The case uses black plastic instead of the more premium metal construction found on the G61SD. Moreover, the new model drops the heat pipe cooling system included in the earlier iteration.
Samsung’s move to bring QD-OLED panels to a more accessible price point aligns with broader industry trends. While Apple, LG, and others have pushed OLED tech mostly into premium spaces, Samsung is aiming to democratize the benefits of OLED’s contrast and color in gaming monitors. At 240Hz and QHD resolution, the Odyssey OLED G6 targets gamers seeking high refresh rates and accurate colors without paying top-tier OLED monitor prices.
Pricing for the Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 gaming monitor variants:
- Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 G61SH (US model): $599.99
- Predecessor Odyssey OLED G6 G61SD: $799.99
- MSI MAG 272QP QD-OLED X24: Approximately $500
- ViewSonic VX2738-2K-OLED: Approximately $450
What to watch: Whether Samsung’s compromises on ports, build materials, and brightness will affect adoption remains to be seen. The lack of USB-C and lower peak brightness might steer some buyers to pricier alternatives. But if Samsung can deliver reliable performance and panel longevity at this price, the Odyssey OLED G6 could reshape expectations for OLED gaming displays in the mid-range segment.
