Redmi’s upcoming K90 Ultra smartphone has passed China’s mandatory 3C certification, confirming support for 100W fast wired charging. The device, listed under model number 2604FRK1EC, is now officially cleared just ahead of its anticipated debut expected by June 2024.

The K90 Ultra succeeds last year’s Redmi K80 Ultra, which launched in June 2023. Given Xiaomi’s typical release schedule, the new model is expected to arrive by June 2024 at the latest.

Leaks suggest the K90 Ultra will feature a 6.8-inch display with a 165Hz refresh rate and a resolution around ”1.5K,” placing it between Full HD and Quad HD. Powering the phone will be MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9500 chipset, a popular choice for high-end Android devices aiming to balance performance with efficiency.

Additional rumored specs include an 8,500mAh battery, a metal frame for durability, an under-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and a built-in active cooling system with a fan-features that hint at a device designed to handle intensive tasks and gaming.

Key Redmi K90 Ultra features:

  • 6.8-inch 1.5K display with 165Hz refresh rate
  • MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset
  • 8,500mAh battery
  • 100W wired fast charging
  • Metal frame
  • Under-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor
  • Active cooling system with built-in fan

For context, Xiaomi’s use of MediaTek’s top-tier chip contrasts with competitors in this range who often opt for Snapdragon processors. The inclusion of a 100W wired charging system aligns with the industry’s push toward faster power delivery, placing the K90 Ultra in direct competition with flagship models from brands like Samsung and OnePlus.

Watch for the official unveiling in the next couple of months, as the K90 Ultra’s specs show Xiaomi’s intent to strengthen its position in the premium mid-range segment with a device balancing speed, battery life, and unique cooling features.
