The foldable smartphone race is heating up as Oppo prepares to unveil the Find N6 in China on March 17. This new foldable phone promises a key feature that rivals the upcoming iPhone Fold, which is widely expected but not yet released: an almost invisible crease on the main display. Oppo’s zero-feel crease technology aims to minimize the visible and tactile fold line that typically hinders the user experience on flexible screens.
Interestingly, Oppo did not develop this technology alone. According to the well-known leaker Digital Chat Station and corroborated by recent Weibo posts, several major manufacturers-including Samsung, Lead Intelligent Equipment, Amphenol, and BLT-joined forces to bring this nearly crease-free folding screen to life. This collaboration merges expertise in hinge design and display manufacturing, pushing the limits of foldable hardware innovation.
This alliance isn’t just about Oppo. The same set of manufacturers is rumored to be working with an international brand on another foldable phone, widely speculated to be Apple’s upcoming iPhone Fold. Samsung is believed to be a key partner in producing the foldable OLED display for the iPhone Fold, signaling deep collaboration behind the scenes of this device.

Additional leaks from February report that the iPhone Fold’s display is already in production. Key details show:
- Crease depth of less than 0.15 mm
- Crease angle under 2.5 degrees
- Compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which has a crease depth closer to 0.7 mm
This highlights Apple’s push for a much more refined folding experience and explains the heavy investment and joint effort to perfect the hinge and display.
The crease has long been a visible and tactile compromise in foldables since Samsung’s original Galaxy Fold launch in 2019. While Samsung has prioritized improving hinge mechanics and aiming for a seamless fold, Apple appears to be emphasizing a near-elimination of this crease altogether, aiming to make the foldable experience feel premium enough to justify its high price.
Although the Oppo Find N6 may not launch globally under that name, its advances give a glimpse of what the broader foldable market might expect soon. If Apple’s foldable debut lives up to these leak-based expectations, the race for the smoothest and most durable foldable display is about to reach new heights.
