OPPO’s latest ColorOS 16 update, rolling out since March 16, introduces practical features focused on security and convenience. The staged release, continuing through March 31 depending on model and region, brings a built-in virus scan tool, support for multiple simultaneous timers, and several usability enhancements aimed at smoothing daily smartphone workflows.

The new virus scan feature in ColorOS 16 automatically detects potentially harmful apps such as malicious APKs or those showing intrusive ads. It informs users about the risk level and enables quick app removal directly from the scan interface-eliminating the need to dig through settings or rely on third-party security apps.

Another useful addition is the ability to run multiple timers at once, which can be labeled and viewed on a single screen with estimated stop times displayed. This feature is handy for managing concurrent activities, from cooking to workouts, or multitasking across different tasks without juggling separate countdowns.

Beyond these headline features, ColorOS 16 adds subtle improvements such as Content Portal support for app clones, allowing seamless sharing between duplicated apps used for multiple accounts. There’s also a new toggle to control whether incoming files open automatically, giving users more control over unexpected content.

The update is hitting a range of OPPO devices, including:

  • Find X9 Pro
  • Find X9
  • Find X8 Pro
  • Find X8
  • Find N5
  • Reno 14 Pro 5G
  • Reno 14 5G

As with many gradual rollouts, timing may vary for users across regions and carriers. The modest but thoughtful tweaks show OPPO’s continued focus on layering meaningful refinements rather than flashy redesigns.
