Samsung’s One UI 8.5 update looks like it will spend a little longer in beta jail. A leaked One UI 8.5 schedule suggests the company is lining up more test builds for the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S24, Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6, which pushes the stable rollout further away even though One UI 8.5 already launched with the Galaxy S26 series in February.

That is not exactly what Galaxy owners were expecting. The update was supposed to start reaching older devices in March, but instead Samsung has kept feeding users beta versions, and the newest leak points to at least two more rounds for some phones before a stable build even gets a date.

Leaked One UI 8.5 beta schedule

According to the leaked timeline shared on X, the Galaxy S25 series is due for Beta 9 this week and Beta 10 in the third week of April, with stable release still ”not determined.” The Galaxy S24 series is said to get Beta 2 on April 9, 2026, and Beta 3 on April 20, 2026, while the Galaxy S23 series is listed for Beta 1 on April 9, 2026, and Beta 2 on April 23, 2026.

  • Galaxy S25 series: Beta 9 this week; Beta 10 in the third week of April; stable not determined
  • Galaxy S24 series: Beta 2 on April 9, 2026; Beta 3 on April 20, 2026
  • Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6: Beta 2 on April 9, 2026
  • Galaxy S23 series: Beta 1 on April 9, 2026; Beta 2 on April 23, 2026

Why Samsung may be stretching the beta phase

If the leak is accurate, stable software is not arriving this month. That would be a frustrating outcome for Galaxy S25 owners in particular, and it would also keep the rest of Samsung’s upgrade queue waiting. The odd part is that recent beta builds reportedly do not have critical bugs, so Samsung may be choosing caution over speed rather than fixing a glaring mess.

That fits a pattern Samsung knows well: hold the line longer in testing, ship less drama later, and accept a few angry comments along the way. Competitors do the opposite all the time, racing to stable release and then issuing patchy follow-ups after users find the problems for them.

What Galaxy owners should expect next

For now, the safest assumption is that One UI 8.5 will keep rolling through beta on the Galaxy S25 family first, with the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S23, and the latest foldables trailing behind. Samsung has not confirmed the final timetable, which leaves the stable version floating somewhere beyond April if this leak is right.

That delay may annoy early adopters, but it also suggests Samsung is trying to avoid a rushed rollout across a huge device base. The open question is whether that caution buys smoother software, or just gives rivals a longer window to brag about moving faster.
