MOVA AtomForm introduced the Palette 300, a Core XY 3D printer featuring a pioneering 12-nozzle system designed to accelerate multicolor printing while reducing filament waste. The Palette 300 competes with leading brands like Bambu Lab and is currently in prototype with a tentative release set for the second quarter. Early adopters can reserve the launch price of $999 with a $50 deposit-significantly lower than the expected retail price of $2,199.

The Palette 300’s key innovation is its ”OmniElement Automatic Nozzle Swapping System,” featuring a carousel that holds 12 nozzles. This system mechanically flips and screws nozzles into position as required. Compared to Bambu Lab’s magnetic nozzle attachment, this mechanical approach may affect speed but allows up to 12 color changes with minimal purge waste. Filament management uses the RFD-6 modules, each housing six spools and functioning as filament dryers, supporting up to 36 spools when four modules are installed.

The printer employs a Bowden tube ”ReadyPrint” feed system that feeds one filament while preheating another, reducing the wait times between color changes. Its software, AtomForm Studio, is based on Orca Slicer-a respected open-source slicer derived from Bambu Studio-ensuring broad compatibility and effective material handling. While marketed as user-friendly, the Palette 300’s complexity and price point indicate a focus on serious hobbyists and professional users requiring high-throughput multicolor printing.

MOVA AtomForm launched the Palette 300 alongside a panel discussion featuring 3D printing experts and academics. The conversation covered the evolution of 3D printing, AI’s impact on design and copyright, and community development. A highlight was AtomWorld, a platform proposed to rival Prusa’s Printables and Bambu’s MakerWorld, promising direct cash compensation for designers who share model files-ushering in a more sustainable ecosystem for creators.

The Palette 300’s ambitious 12-nozzle setup points to a future where multicolor 3D printing achieves faster speeds and better color fidelity with less waste. As competitors like Bambu Lab continue to innovate multi-extruder systems, MOVA AtomForm’s entry signals intensified efforts to transition multicolor 3D printing from a niche application to dependable production technology. Whether the mechanical complexity will justify the price will become clear once the printer moves beyond prototype status.

Palette 300 pricing options:
  • Launch price (with $50 reservation): $999
  • Expected retail price: $2,199
