Kia has launched the EV2 electric crossover in Europe, offering an affordable entry point for urban electric mobility starting at €26,600 (around 2.5 million rubles). The company plans to lease the new model from €239 per month (approximately 22,000 rubles), making it accessible to a broader audience. The standout feature is the option of a four-seat configuration designed to maximize space efficiency and reduce costs.

The base Light trim comes equipped with a 42.2 kWh battery and a 146-horsepower electric motor, delivering a city-suitable driving range of 317 kilometers. This modest range fits the needs of daily urban commutes, where charging points are increasingly common.

Next up, the Air trim switches to a conventional five-seat layout but retains the same battery and horsepower specs as the Light trim. The price rises to a starting €28,990 (about 2.7 million rubles). For drivers craving longer journeys, a larger 61 kWh battery option paired with a 135-horsepower motor offers a maximum range of 453 kilometers, priced from €33,490 (around 3.1 million rubles).

Kia rounds out the lineup with the Earth and GT-Line variants. Earth is available in both four- and five-seat versions, featuring the 42.2 kWh battery and 146-hp motor, with prices ranging between €31,290 and €31,590 (roughly 2.93 to 2.95 million rubles). Its range is slightly reduced to 308 kilometers.

The GT-Line represents the premium option with a 61 kWh battery and a 135-hp motor. The five-seat GT-Line costs €37,190 (about 3.5 million rubles), while the four-seat version is marginally less expensive at €36,890 (around 3.4 million rubles). Both offer an estimated range of 413 kilometers.

This pricing and configuration strategy highlights Kia’s effort to cover a broad spectrum of urban EV buyers, balancing cost, range, and seating flexibility. The compact dimensions and diverse battery setups put the EV2 in direct competition with budget-friendly electric crossovers from brands like Hyundai and Volkswagen, which are also pushing the electrification agenda in Europe.

While the European market becomes increasingly crowded with affordable EVs, Kia’s approach with a distinct four-seat layout could attract customers seeking more cargo space without raising costs. Meanwhile, the variety of battery sizes address different range needs without forcing a one-size-fits-all approach.
