Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models will probably keep the Dynamic Island size unchanged, despite earlier rumors suggesting a more compact design. According to a reliable supply chain insider known as Digital Chat Station, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will largely stick with the existing molds and chassis, preserving Face ID and the Dynamic Island ”largely unchanged.” Expectations for under-display Face ID and a smaller Dynamic Island have reportedly been pushed to Apple’s next generation.

This update contrasts with earlier strong rumors. Names like Instant Digital, ShrimpApplePro, and analyst Ross Young had supported reports that the iPhone 18 Pro would feature a narrower Dynamic Island. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman independently reported that the island would shrink. However, Digital Chat Station’s leak contradicts those reports, reminding us that last year’s expectation of a smaller iPhone 17 Pro Dynamic Island never materialized either.

iPhone 18 Pro internal upgrades include A20 chip and larger battery

The iPhone 18 Pro’s headline upgrades will focus on internal improvements, including Apple’s next-generation 2-nanometer A20 Pro chip and a significantly larger battery exceeding 5,000mAh. The camera system will also receive enhancements with larger apertures for better low-light photography. Physical design tweaks, especially around the front-facing sensors and cutouts, are expected to be minor.

Apple’s plan for under-display Face ID and a cutout-free iPhone display

Apple’s longer-term vision is an iPhone with no visible cutouts or holes on the front-a pure glass slab-likely arriving around the 2027 model to mark the iPhone’s 20th anniversary. Implementing under-display Face ID and eliminating the Dynamic Island will require technological breakthroughs, so it’s no surprise the company is pacing this transition carefully.

iPhone 18 Pro release date and other Apple product updates

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are slated for a fall 2026 release, continuing Apple’s tradition of annual updates. Additional Apple product plans include a high-end ”MacBook Ultra” featuring OLED and touchscreen technology. Meanwhile, iOS 26.4 betas introduce new emojis and minor software tweaks to keep the ecosystem refreshed.
